Overview
Matt McCubbins is Special Counsel in Ball Janik’s Construction Defect practice group in Miami. He helps owners and associations resolve construction and design defect disputes. Matt has over 15 years of experience practicing law, focused on litigation and dispute resolution.
Before joining Ball Janik, Matt was a member of the construction and real estate advocacy team at an Am Law 50 firm. There, he represented Fortune 100 companies and some of the nation’s top contractors in construction and real property litigation. Matt also served as a judicial law clerk to a Kentucky trial court judge. Throughout his career, Matt has advocated for clients in all types of forums. His trial experience includes actions involving breaches of contract; negligence; property acquisition; eminent domain and infrastructure development; commercial landlord-tenant; retailer, hotel, and professional liability; and professional licensure defense. Matt has litigated cases in Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Texas, and Washington, D.C.
Matt McCubbins obtained his J.D., cum laude, from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. He holds an LL.M., with distinction, from Queen Mary University of London School of Law. And he received his B.A. in Economics from Bellarmine University, where he was a member of the baseball team.
Matt serves on the Board of the Todd Crawford Foundation to Cure Paralysis, Inc.
