Steve Janik Helps Secure Victory for Higher Education in Central Oregon

The Oregon Land Use Board of Appeals (LUBA) upheld the prior decision of the Bend City Council approving the land use applications of Oregon State University for a new 10-acre 4-year campus in Bend. Steve Janik, with co-counsel Liz Fancher and City Attorney of Bend, Mary Winters, successfully argued on behalf of Oregon State University and the City of Bend. The opponents asserted seven assignments of error, and LUBA, in a unanimous decision, denied all of the opponents’ assignments of error. This was a controversial and challenging case, but the outcome is an important victory for the future of higher education in Central Oregon.
