Ball Janik LLP’s founding office opened its doors in 1982 and has played a major role in shaping the landscape of present-day Portland and its surrounding areas. The Portland office provides professional services to clients in real estate, land use, litigation, bankruptcy and creditor rights, business and corporate, construction defect, insurance recovery, and labor and employment.

The Portland office is conveniently located in downtown Portland, across the street from the Mark O. Hatfield federal courthouse, one block from beautiful Waterfront Park, and two blocks from MAX, the regional light rail system, which also connects to the innovative Portland Streetcar.

The sophistication of the legal practice in Portland rivals that of larger cities. Many of our attorneys relocated to Portland after beginning their careers at prominent firms in larger cities, including Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, and Washington, DC.

Portland is widely recognized as one of America’s most livable cities. With approximately 1.95 million residents in the metropolitan area, Portland offers a wide variety of cultural and recreational activities and conveniences while retaining the friendly personality of a smaller community. Many of our attorneys enjoy such activities as hiking, biking, skiing, snowboarding, fishing, camping, and surfing, all within a short drive of the city. Ball Janik strives to accommodate the lifestyles of both partners and non-partners within the work environment.

The partners in the firm are respected members of the legal community. They have distinguished academic records, extensive achievements in their profession, and significant political and community involvement.
