Ashley D. Godwin Joins Ball Janik LLP as Senior Defense Advisor

Ball Janik LLP is pleased to announce that Ashley D. Godwin has joined the firm’s Washington, D.C. office as a Senior Defense Advisor. Her practice focuses on federal government budgeting and acquisition, with an emphasis on U.S. Navy and Marine Corps programs, small business programs, and the defense authorization and appropriations committees of Congress. Ms. Godwin will also serve as Senior Defense Advisor to the Shipbuilders Council of America (http://www.shipbuilders.com), a long-time Ball Janik client, which advocates for the interests of the U.S. commercial shipbuilding and ship repair industry.
Ms. Godwin has more than fifteen years of experience in the legislative and executive branches of the federal government and in government relations for the defense industry. Her distinguished career includes high-level financial management positions with the U.S. Navy and Department of Defense, special assignments in personnel and national security for the White House, senior staff work for the Armed Services Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives, and private sector government relations for Northrup Grumman Corporation. Ms. Godwin has acquired in-depth knowledge of the Congressional budget process and federal agency acquisition programs, and maintains an extensive network of influential contacts across government, policy groups and the private sector.
Ashley Godwin earned her B.A. with honors in Political Science from the University of South Carolina in 1992. From 1992 to 1995, she continued her political science studies in the Ph.D. program at the University of Dallas.
