Caitlin Sause joined Ball Janik LLP in 2011 as a Government Affairs Advisor in the Portland office. Her primary focus is representing clients before the Oregon Legislature and assisting the firm’s clients on local government issues. She also coordinates with Ball Janik’s Government Affairs team in Washington, DC on Federal issues.

A native of Coos Bay, Oregon, Ms. Sause is fluent in maritime and natural resource issues. In 2010, she gained experience representing renewable energy and health care clients before the Oregon Legislature. She has also conducted significant graduate research in education and health care policy issues.

Caitlin Sause joined Ball Janik LLP in 2011 as a Government Affairs Advisor in the Portland office. Her primary focus is representing clients before the Oregon Legislature and assisting the firm’s clients on local government issues. She also coordinates with Ball Janik’s Government Affairs team in Washington, DC on Federal issues.

A native of Coos Bay, Oregon, Ms. Sause is fluent in maritime and natural resource issues. In 2010, she gained experience representing renewable energy and health care clients before the Oregon Legislature. She has also conducted significant graduate research in education and health care policy issues.

Prior to joining Ball Janik, Ms. Sause served as a legislative associate for Northwest Strategies, where she specialized in renewable energy, coastal issues, and natural resources. She also interned for U.S. Senator Ron Wyden.

Ms. Sause received her B.A. in Political Science in 2005 from Vanderbilt University, magna cum laude. She was one of only two students asked to prepare an honors thesis by the Department of Political Science and was granted High Honors. In 2004, she received the National Collegiate Community Service Woman of Year honor for her community involvement while at Vanderbilt.

In 2005, Ms. Sause was awarded a Doctoral Research Fellowship and Scholarship at George Washington University where she focused her work in political science, quantitative methodology, and public policy. In 2008, she received her M.A. in Political Science and was awarded a Research Fellowship through George Washington University's School of Media and Public Affairs to continue her work on campaign messaging and political psychology.

Ms. Sause has been a presenter at several conferences, including the Midwest Political Science Association in 2006, speaking on “The Impact of Organized Interests on the Campaign Environment.”  She also serves on the the boards of the Oregon Sports Authority and FIRST Robotics.

Ms. Sause graduated from Jesuit High School in Beaverton and resides in Portland.
