Peter Hicks joined Ball Janik LLP in 2006. His practice focuses on litigation with a particular emphasis on employment matters. He has a broad range of experience successfully representing clients in complex commercial litigation, including construction defect claims, products liability and mass tort, and employment disputes. Mr. Hicks has extensive experience counseling clients on regulatory interpretation, employment contracts, non-competition agreements, trade secret protection, and labor relations and negotiation.
Mr. Hicks has represented local, regional and national clients in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies including the National Labor Relations Board and the EEOC. This representation has included cases alleging violations of Title VII and equivalent state laws, the ADA, the ADEA, retaliation claims, private sector whistleblower statutes, FMLA, OFLA and associated tort claims. He has also represented clients in disputes involving non-compete and non-solicitation agreements.

Prior to joining Ball Janik, Mr. Hicks was a partner in the Seattle office of Williams, Kastner & Gibbs, PLLC. He is a frequent speaker on employment related topics and has conducted in house training and seminars regarding the interrelationship between state and federal leave laws, enforcing restrictive covenants, conducting effective employee evaluations, and managing workplace investigations
Mr. Hicks has provided pro-bono legal service to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Oregon and to the KIDS Center, which is dedicated to the prevention, evaluation and treatment of child abuse.
