Firm History
Ball Janik LLP was founded on July 1, 1982 with six lawyers and a four-person support staff. The founding partners all desired to establish a firm that valued quality work, focused on advancing clients' objectives. The founders assumed that if those two elements were consistently present, the firm would succeed. Initially, the firm was known as Ball Janik & Novack, and its focus was in the areas of real property, land use and permitting, and in specialized litigation. We have been fortunate to have attracted valuable clients and people from 1982, forward. Our firm has grown and prospered because of the confidence that our clients have shown in us. We constantly strive to reciprocate.
During the past two decades, the firm has expanded into Washington, DC, Central Oregon, and Seattle, Washington offices and has grown to approximately 56 lawyers, 9 government affairs specialists, and 65 professional and support staff members. Ball Janik LLP actively practices in a wide range of legal fields, excluding criminal and domestic relations law. Conscious of its roots as a small group of like-minded lawyers and staff, Ball Janik LLP has consciously carried forward the informality and collegiality of its early days. Doors are open. Discussions are encouraged. Decisions are reached on a consensus basis. Lasting client relationships are valued as the ultimate compliment to the firm's work. Each person working at Ball Janik LLP understands that in all of our efforts, we are continually working to advance our clients' interests.
